Dr. Gloria Duda is a well-known and highly respected plastic surgeon in the Northern Virginia/Metropolitan Washington DC area. She has served as Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Virginia Hospital Center from 2012 until 2019. Dr. Duda has been double board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Duda has been in private practice in McLean, Virginia, since 1992, and has extensive experience in plastic surgery of the face, breast and body, with a special interest and expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast. Dr. Duda is recognized in Washingtonian Magazine "Top Doctors", Washington Checkbook and Northern Virginia Magazine.
Dr. Duda, born in Philadelphia, completed her Bachelor of Science at the Pennsylvania State University, and then received a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami. After receiving her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Florida, she then decided to combine her science and engineering background with a career in plastic surgery to fulfill her passion for helping patients achieve their goals of looking their best and enhancing their self-confidence. She completed a demanding and thorough residency training, first completing General Surgery training followed by the premier Plastic Surgery residency program at Georgetown University.
Patient safety is a priority and she performs surgery only at accredited facilities with board certified anesthesiologists and trained and certified staff. Dr. Duda has admitting and operating privileges at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova Woodburn Surgery Center, Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, and Virginia Hospital Center.
Dr. Duda has participated in multiple research clinical trials, published papers in the plastic surgery literature, and presented at local, national and international meetings. She has advocated for the rights of plastic surgery patients in front of the FDA. Dr. Duda believes that women should have choices in breast implants and she has dedicated her time as a principle investigator regarding the safety of silicone gel breast implants. Dr. Duda was a key participant in the FDA hearings regarding silicone implant safety and appeared on the NBC "Today" show discussing the facts about silicone breast implants. She also participated in the FDA hearings for the safety and effectiveness of Restylane®. Dr. Duda continues her commitment by participating in post approval silicone breast implant studies to ensure that women can continue to have options for breast implants.
Dr. Duda believes in giving back, and has been active in volunteer services in our community and abroad. She contributes her services for breast reconstruction for those individuals in need, has volunteered in the Skin Deep Tattoo Removal Program, and has traveled to Peru and the Dominican Republic on missions to provide much needed plastic surgical services.
Dr. Duda is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of many professional societies including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, National Capital Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Medical Society of Northern Virginia. She is also a member of the National Council of Leaders in Breast Aesthetics.
