Am I a Breast Reconstruction Candidate?

Dr. Duda is passionate about helping women with breast cancer, women considering preventative breast cancer surgery, and women with congenital breast deformities restore their sense of femininity and well-being. If you have undergone a mastectomy, lumpectomy or are living with a genetic breast abnormality, you may likely be a candidate for breast reconstruction.

At McLean Plastic Surgery, our breast reconstruction services are highly referred by our medical colleagues and satisfied patients alike. The best way to know if you are a good candidate for breast reconstruction surgery is to meet personally with Dr. Duda. During your confidential consultation, we will review your medical history and assess your physical condition.

Breast Reconstruction Options

At McLean Plastic Surgery, breast reconstruction can be performed with either saline or silicone implants. Dr. Duda will discuss your breast implant options and help you determine which approach is the best solution for your unique goals and anatomical condition.

Implant-based breast reconstruction usually requires the use of a temporary tissue expander. The tissue expander is used to gradually create a new breast mound over time. Saline is added to the expander every week or two until your desired outcome is achieved. Then, in a later procedure, the tissue expander is replaced with the final saline or silicone implant.

In cases where the nipple was removed during mastectomy, Dr. Duda will perform nipple reconstruction about two months after the placement of your final implant.
