What Issues Can Rhinoplasty Correct?

Rhinoplasty addresses a number of common cosmetic issues, such as:

  • A broken nose
  • Nostrils that are asymmetrical or upturned
  • Nostrils that are too wide
  • Nostrils that are too constricted or narrow
  • A crooked, bent or unattractive bridge
  • A tip that is too wide, droopy, small or large
  • An irregularly shaped nose

Am I a Good Nose Surgery Candidate?

If you want to improve the appearance of your nose, you may likely be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. However, it is important to have realistic expectations for the outcome of your surgery. Your new nose probably won’t look exactly like the nose of your favorite celebrity. Instead, your results will be subtle and refined, bringing balance and proportion to your other facial features. Typically, good candidates for nose surgery:

  • Are in good general health
  • Have a fully matured nose
  • Do not smoke or are willing to quit

Types of Rhinoplasty

As with every procedure at McLean Plastic Surgery, we strive to achieve your unique aesthetic objectives. We take the time to understand what you would like to achieve with rhinoplasty, and determine the best approach to reach your goals. Because of this commitment, all of our rhinoplasty procedures are individually tailored to the patient.

Depending on your unique situation, Dr. Duda or Dr. Maia may recommend either closed or open rhinoplasty.

  • Closed Rhinoplasty: All incisions are placed inside the nostrils
  • Open Rhinoplasty: The incision is placed along the soft tissue between your nostrils

Revision Rhinoplasty

There are a number of reasons why revision rhinoplasty may be performed. The procedure may be conducted to make minor adjustments soon after the initial surgery, or further down the road to correct other issues. Perhaps your new nose doesn’t look as you had hoped. You may not have healed how you or your previous surgeon had expected. In some cases, the initial results may have looked fine, but changes occurred over time.

Revision rhinoplasty is usually a more technically challenging procedure, and requires the skill and precision of a highly-trained nose surgeon. Dr. Duda and Dr. Maia understand the complexities of revision nose surgery, and possess the skill and artistic sensibilities to produce exceptional results.
