Juvederm is a smooth gel made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally-occurring substance found in the skin, joints, eyes and elsewhere. As we age, the hyaluronic acid in our skin gradually diminishes, contributing to the skin’s inability to retain moisture as it once did. Since it contains this natural ingredient, Juvederm is rapidly absorbed by the body.
Juvederm is commonly used to plump the lips, fill facial wrinkles and treat hollows under the eyes. McLean Plastic Surgery offers the full suite of Juvederm products, which includes:
- Juvederm Ultra
- Juvederm Ultra Plus
- Juvederm Voluma
- Juvederm Volbella
- Juvederm Vollure
Restylane is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler. Restylane is integrated with lidocaine, which instantaneously numbs the injected area, making treatments comfortable and easily tolerable. Restylane can add volume to a variety of areas, including:
- Laugh lines
- Marionette lines
- Creases at the corner of the mouth
- Upper and lower lip
Radiesse differs from Juvederm and Restylane in that it is not a hyaluronic acid filler. Instead, it uses calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres to promote natural collagen production in the skin, promoting volume. Radiesse can be used in conjunction with hyaluronic acid fillers for more comprehensive results, and is an ideal option for patients with significant volume loss in the face. Radiesse is also FDA-approved for use on the hands.
Sculptra is not a wrinkle filler, it is a bio-activator or “volumizer”. It promotes the production of new collagen in targeted areas with the use of poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible synthetic polymer. This collagen stimulation restores volume and rebalances facial contours, restoring a youthful, attractive facial appearance.
Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable solution that safely, effectively and permanently reduces submental fullness, more commonly known as a double-chin. Kybella contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring substance in the body that helps to absorb and break down fat.
At McLean Plastic Surgery, we can administer tiny droplet injections of your own fat cells to restore lost volume to the cheeks, jaw and other areas where the fat beneath your skin has diminished. During this treatment, excess fat cells are extracted from areas such as the thighs or abdomen, then purified and injected into targeted locations.
