Breast reduction or reduction mammoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes breast skin, fat and glandular tissue resulting in smaller, lighter, firmer breasts with reduction in areola size and elevated position of the nipple.
As with breast lifts, the incisions and scar location on the breast are determined by how much tissue needs to be removed to alleviate your symptoms and the position of the nipple. Breast reduction surgery for men removes the unwanted excess breast, a condition called gynecomastia. Gynecomastia can affect one or both breasts.
